Welcome to Ethan's office

Ethan Seow

Speaker, Self-Mastery Trainer,
Mindset Educator

Ethan Seow’s professional path has been an unorthodox one, marked by brave self-discovery and an unwavering drive to understand human potential. With a love for understanding human behaviour and mental health, he initially pursued psychiatry. However, after five years, he realised he could not conform to the system and made the difficult decision to leave medical school.

This pivotal choice led Ethan to explore entrepreneurship, starting a music school and production house, followed by ventures in business consultancy, corporate training, UX design, and events management. His entry into cybersecurity and AI happened almost by chance, but it rekindled his lifelong passion for technology. “It felt like a fish back in water – I could breathe easy again,” Ethan states. Today, working across both fields, he leverages his multidisciplinary experiences to create a unique business-operations-technical perspective. Ethan’s goal is to make highly technical domains more relatable and human-centric, striving to build experiences that resonate with individuals and organisations alike.

His story

From a young age, Ethan found his thought processes differed from his peers, which made understanding and communicating with people extremely difficult. It wasn’t until his late 20s that he discovered he likely had undiagnosed Asperger’s, finally giving him a better understanding of his situation. Rather than viewing it as a hindrance, Ethan turned this communication challenge into a superpower.

For Ethan, people are at the heart of everything. The cybersecurity expert and educator’s life has been shaped by his relationships and interactions with others. He says the most important outcome has been the many individuals who have been inspired by him and wanted to join forces to achieve their aims.

Ethan’s passion for mentoring stems from a realization in his youth that he wanted to surround himself with open-minded, genuine people hungry to learn. When he began sharing his own love of learning, he found himself creating environments that attracted like-minded individuals. This led him to education and teaching, fields he sees as critical for fostering open-mindedness, growth, and protecting society – whether through collaborative music performance, cybersecurity, or his “trauma-inspired education” approach of helping people overcome limiting beliefs. Ultimately, Ethan believes humans are innately good, and by gaining awareness of our thought patterns and facing our personal demons, we can all become trustworthy people who act with vision and conviction.

His career

Drawing from his diverse background spanning entrepreneurship, psychiatry training, life coaching, and professional learning and development, Ethan has over 11 years of experience bringing a unique perspective to the field. When Ethan entered the cybersecurity field in 2021, he brought a unique viewpoint – recognizing the interplay between culture (corporate, national, societal) and how cybersecurity is perceived and understood. This insight shapes his goal of making cybersecurity accessible by connecting the technical aspects to practical applications and policies. In Ethan’s vision, cybersecurity becomes a tool for everyone rather than an obscure boogeyman.

Ethan is a prominent speaker at events like TEDx and Black Hat Asia, where he shares insights on the human factors involved in cybersecurity. He has spoken extensively on topics related to the human aspects of cybersecurity, engaging businesses on cybersecurity, future skills in the field, the impact of AI on society and jobs, and securing AI systems against threats like prompt injection. Ethan emphasizes the need for clear ethics policies as AI capabilities are integrated responsibly into cybersecurity practices. He advocates fortifying technical infrastructure while nurturing the evolving role of human expertise. By fostering understanding of cybersecurity’s human dimensions, Ethan aims to create a safer, more resilient digital world.

His passion

What drives Ethan everyday is his vision to empower individuals to become the best versions of themselves for the greater good of humanity. A passionate advocate for human development, his approach is rooted in the belief that humans are inherently good, but trauma can create limiting beliefs and patterns that prevent personal growth.

His work in trauma-inspired education focuses on supporting individuals in understanding their limiting beliefs and thought processes. Through mentoring and coaching, he guides people to face their inner demons, accept them, and ultimately become trustworthy individuals who act with vision and conviction. The goal is to foster self-awareness, enabling everyone to break free from their constraints and reach their full potential, thereby contributing to a more enlightened and compassionate society.

His speaking style

Ethan’s unique ability to simplify technical topics while motivating individuals to take informed action makes him a highly sought-after speaker. Ethan masterfully breaks down complex cybersecurity concepts using a conversational, jargon-free style that resonates with any audience. He incorporates personal stories and audience interaction, creating an immersive learning experience.

After having worked with Ethan through Tribeless, and being coached by him outside the work scope, I’ve been inspired to seek more clarity in my thought processes. Learning from him has helped me understand how my mind works, and I now naturally pause to assess the situation.
